This picture was taken 48 years ago yesterday...my parents' wedding day. I had planned a special blog post, but I've found myself not really up to delving deeply into the world of remembrance this week. Instead, I'm sharing a link to an article to which I'm sure I've linked before...
our friend James McAlister's "An Old Fashioned Love Story."
It was written, and published in his column in our local newspaper, 8 years ago. I still cry every time I read it...mostly because I can hear the tears in my dad's voice James speaks of. What a special and timely reminder of God's sovereignty as He truly orchestrates every detail of our lives for our good and His glory.
While you're there, go to James's home page and scroll down to his other articles. Some are funny, all are thought-provoking, and some are best read with a box of kleenex handy. This is the article containing James's words from Daddy's funeral...not surprisingly, my favorite of all his articles, but also a reminder I definitely needed right now.
Thank you, again, Mr. James, for your beautifully worded memories and wisdom. Most of all, thank you Father God, for the blessing of a Godly heritage, of being raised by parents who were an example of Godly marriage. Happy Anniversary (a day late), Mama!

I think I'll wait a while to visit Mr. James' articles. Just a little while.
What a wonderful picture! I hadn't realized that yesterday was their anniversary. They look so young and happy, with so much yet in front of them. And thanks for the kind comments about the articles. As you know, it's easy to write about those you care about.
