FOR TODAY
December 8, 2008
Outside my window...
Overcast skies, a hedgeful of birds. :-)
I am thinking...
Words to several of the songs we sang last night keep playing through my head...especially these two:
(This was the only video or audio that I could find of this song online. The song is beautiful, the words are incredible, but this recording is not the best so it is difficult to hear parts of it. Wish I had a recording of last night to post!) :
(We actually did a beautiful arrangement of this called "The Light Medley" by Tom Fettke, which includes "In the First Light" and Handel's "For Unto Us a Child is Born". I can't find anything close online) :
I am thankful for...
Billy's birthday yesterday,
"Keyboards at Christmas" last night...what a beautiful worship experience! In one way I'm thankful that it is over and everyone made it through, but in another I would like to do it again! (Or maybe just watch. :-)) Loved the vocal music we did this year, and the keyboards were incredible as usual!
To be feeling somewhat better after lots of antibiotics and a grueling weekend,
For friends who bless me beyond measure in so many ways...mundane and major, silly and serious,
and for new-to-us bunk beds that have totally elated the girls!
From the learning rooms...
We are doing Ann Voskamp's The Glorious Coming (a Jesse Tree devotional). We started late, so we are catching up, but we are enjoying it *so* much!
From the kitchen...
I have absolutely *no* idea! Still have carryovers from last week's menu due to not cooking much that wasn't super easy last week, and haven't made a menu for this week yet. I still haven't made the buttermilk cookies I've been wanting to make for weeks, and I've decided I really need to make some scones today, just because I'm in the mood for them. :) Otherwise, who knows?? :-)
I am wearing...
Dark green sweats.
I am creating...
I need to be creating order out of chaos in our house this week! And decorating for Christmas...we are still trying to get our tree up. :)
I am going...
We are all going to be very busy with preparations for the children's Christmas musical Sunday night.
I am reading...
Rhythms of Grace, by Marilynn Griffith
I am hoping...
that the meds I've been on are working and that I feel way better this week than last, and that Peter isn't getting sick...he's not feeling well this morning. :-(
I am hearing...
bits and pieces of last night's music running through my head at random. :-)
Around the house...
UGH! After several days of hubby telling me to "stay down" last week and not do anything other than the most necessary laundry, dishes, and food prep, DO NOT look at my house. We are going to be busy bees this week cleaning, straightening, and *hopefully* decorating for Christmas!!
One of my favorite things...
Christmas musicals. All the hard work and anxiety over the details, the time commitment, all so worth it. From the time I was a little girl, that has always been one of my favorite parts of the Christmas season.
A few plans for the rest of the week:
Put the house back to rights and get the Christmas tree up,
Maintain the basics (school, house, church), and
Get ready for the Children's musical!!
Here is picture thought I am sharing...
This is the second week that I don't have a picture to post. For a professional scrapbooker, I'm not keeping up with pictures very well right now!! We haven't finished Peter's 11-year-old "portraits", I didn't get *any* pictures of Billy's birthday yesterday or any that turned out well from last night. :-( I promise to do better next week.
