Surrounded by His Sovereignty

This was a super-duper quick card for ICAD, and this is going to be a super-quick post.  The girls and I got back from the gym late after being gone most of the day, and things just finally began settling down around 10:00.  Having been up in the wee hours of the morning two days in a row, I'm really ready to head to bed.

Hopefully Part 2 of the Anne Ortlund post will happen tomorrow.  In the meantime, I've been bombarded with reminders recently of God's sovereignty.  They're another reminder of God's perfect timing, as it's been one of those weeks I've needed those reminders to help me "remember what I know", in the words of our dear friend Tom Stuart.

I've shared some of these quotes on Facebook, and several have said that they needed to read them this week as well.  So I thought I'd share them here in case perhaps others needed the reminders, too.

The more we understand God's sovereignty, the more our prayers will be filled with thanksgiving.
~ R. C. Sproul

Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand. ~ Proverbs 19:21

I'll say it again, God's sovereignty is my sanity.
~Scotty Smith

The throne of heaven is occupied. Our God is working all things together after the counsel of his will & working in all things for our good.
~Scotty Smith

But our God is in the Heavens: He hath done whatever He hath pleased.
~Psalm 115:3

You don't have to know what's going to happen today because the Holy Spirit does. He lives in you and empowers you to do what is right.
~Paul David Tripp

The king's heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He will.
~Proverbs 21:1

God's sovereignty is not an invitation to passivity, Instead, it is a call to wise and risky creativity. Dan Allender, retweeted by Scotty Smith

Understanding God's sovereignty changes the way we view history, current events, and our circumstances.
